The most expensive beef in the world is the type of beef coming from the Wagyu cows. These Japanese cows are fed the best grass and provided the best treatment.
That is why the meat is especially tender and particularly expensive. 200 grams of a fillet cost in Europe more than 100 dollars.

expensive foods Serendipity Sundae
Prepared with five scoops of the richest Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with some of the world’s most expensive chocolates, the world’s most expensive dessert, which will set you back around US$25,000,
was created by Serendipity in New York City and certainly lives up to its name: Grand Opulence sundae. What’s more, the treat is topped with special dessert caviar, adorned with a 23-carat edible gold leaf, and served in a crystal goblet complete with an 18-carat-gold spoon

Bird’s Nest Soup

Bird’s Nest Soup
Price per kilo: £1,000-£5,000 ($2,000-£10,000)
Price per pound: £455-£2,270 ($910-$4,535)
When it comes to strange culinary delicacies, China’s Bird’s Nest Soup is right up there with monkey brains and haggis. The birds whose homes make up the soup’s main ingredient are a handful of swift species, particularly the White-nest Swiflet and the Black-nest Swiftlet.
Known as the ‘Caviar of the East’, these valuable nests are actually made of hardened strands of the birds’ unique glue-like saliva – that’s right, spit soup. As you would expect, harvesting the nests of these cave-dwelling creatures is a tricky job, albeit one that has been refined over around 400 years.
The birds nests come in a variety of colours and though all are prized for their culinary, nutritional, medicinal and even aphrodisiacal properties the rarer, and more expensive, ‘blood-red’ nests are prized most of all

Why are Japanese restaurants so expensive?
well, when you learn how to prepare food for a restaurant full of people wanting a diverse amount of sushi, then I'll agree. I eat sushi all the time, watch the chefs in action and am always amazed at the skill. If you don't understand the skill involved with making Japanese cuisine, you should maybe read into it a little. Dishes that look very simple are difficult to plate (present). It's delicate. It's feng shui for food. try doing it at home. Good luck with that.
They may not serve big portions but actually the food and it's preparation is very complicated and takes a trained person to make it look easy. Just the preparation like the cutting and shaping of the foods takes a great deal of time to make the final cooking quick and easy looking. And the ingredients have to be top quality because the food is served so simply. Most of the cost is for labor and food
In a proper Japanese restaurant, cooks must train for years as an assistant to the "master" chef before becoming a professional. The presentation, preparation, and ingredients are trade secrets and passed on from master to student. (Even some Ramen shops) However, the better restaurants stress freshness and this requires additional costs to secure a supply of food that can meet the standards of the chef. The other reason is that you also pay for the atmosphere of the restaurant. If you think Japanese restaurants are expensive in the US and Europe, Japanese "Ryote" restaurants can cost up to 2 thousand dollars a person for dinner.

expensive foods in dubai
- by Steven Coleman
Xpatulator.com
According to the March 2008, Xpatulator international cost of living comparison, Dubai, United Arab Emirates is the 32nd most expensive city in the world for expatriates to live in. The findings of the international cost of living comparison of 228 international locations, conducted by the international relocation calculator, shows that Dubai is most expensive for Restaurants, Meals Out and Hotels and least expensive for Communication.
The international cost of living comparison uses the prices of goods and services that expatriates spend their salaries on in each location, and calculates cost of living indexes (COLI) for 13 different basket groups using New York as the base (i.e. New York is equal to 100).
The most expensive city in the world for expatriates is London. At the other end of the rankings, the least expensive city (again – for expatriates to live in) is Harare. On average, goods and services that cost an expatriate US$100 in New York would cost US$126.6 in London, compared to just US$16.4 in Harare, and US98.84 in Dubai.
Dubai Cost of Living Basket
For each aspect of cost of living Dubai is ranked by Xpatulator as follows (Out of 228 international locations, ranked from highest cost of living to lowest cost of living):
Expatriate Salary Approaches
Cost of living information is used by organisations to establish salary levels for expatriates undertaking international assignments. How the cost of living information is used depends on the pay methodology adopted by the organisation. There are 3 mainstream approaches to establishing salary levels for international assignments, the build-up approach, the salary purchasing power approach, and the cost of living allowance approach.
Salary Build-Up Approach
The build-up approach uses the expatriate's home salary as the starting point and then builds up the salary package for an international assignment. Typical elements added to the salary are for cost of living differences, hardship differences and exchange rate. Hardship is the relative difference in the quality of living a person and their family are likely to experience.
For example a person earning AUD$100 000 in Sydney taking up an assignment in Dubai would have the following build-up:
Base Salary AUD$100 000 X COLI X Hardship Premium X Exchange Rate = Assignment Package in US Dollars.
Using Xpatulator a person earning AUD$100 000 in Sydney, would earn an assignment package of USD$89 710 in Dubai.
Salary Purchasing Power Parity (SPPP) Approach
The salary purchasing power parity approach seeks to achieve parity between international locations. What would be the equivalent of a salary in Dubai in other places in the world in terms of purchasing power? We compared purchasing power by comparing salary levels adjusted for cost of living differences, and relative hardship using Xpatulator.
A salary of USD$75 000 in Dubai is equivalent to:
Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) Approach
Organisations that make use of Cost of Living Allowances (COLA) use cost of living information to determine how much COLA to pay for international assignments. A COLA is an allowance paid to an expatriate to ensure that they are compensated where the cost of living is higher than their home country. Where the cost of living is lower, most organisations do not adjust the salary downwards, they would simply not pay a COLA in such cases. For example of a person earning US$57 812 in Johannesburg sent on an international assignment to Dubai, they would be paid a COLA as follows:
USD$75 000 in Dubai less USD$57 812 in Johannesburg = USD$17 188 COLA in Dubai
The COLA is paid in addition to the individual's current salary, for the duration of the international assignment, and is typically reviewed on an annual basis, or when the COLI changes by more than 10%.

Most Expensive Caviar in the World
by, Hunter Davis
The word ‘Almas’ means diamond, a fitting name for the world’s most expensive caviar. This Beluga caviar is white in appearance. The most expensive caviar comes from the Beluga Sturgeon, native to the Caspian Sea. Generally, the lighter the color of Beluga caviar the older the fish is. The word caviar comes from the Persian word “Khag-avar,” meaning “the roe-generator.” In Medieval Russia, caviar was a peasant food, but by the time Shakespeare wrote the famous, “twas caviary to the general,” caviar had gained its association with connoisseurship and luxury. An important fact about caviar is that the older the fish, the more elegant and exquisite is the flavor.
Almas caviar comes from Iran making it extremely rare and extremely expensive. The only known outlet is the Caviar House & Prunier in London England’s Picadilly that sells a kilo of the expensive Almas caviar in a 24-karat gold tin for £16,000, or about $25,000. Coincidentally, it is also where you can find the most expensive meal in Britain. The Caviar House also sells a £800 tin for those on a smaller budget.
Beluga caviar is composed of pea-sized, gray eggs. In general, the lighter the color, the more expensive it is. The grades are: 0 (darkest color), 00 (medium toned), and 000 (lightest color). The 000 grade is the most expensive and is sometimes referred to as “royal caviar”. In terms of texture, royal caviar is often described as rich and silky.
All caviar has an extremely short shelf life, so if you’re able to afford it, make sure you eat it all!

Most Expensive Mushroom
Some may have you believe that the world’s most expensive mushroom is the white truffle. While that rare fungus is truly expensive, it lacks one important quality—it’s not a freakin’ mushroom. Now that we’ve cleared that up, Japan’s matsutake mushroom can take its place as the most expensive mushroom in the world.
The matsutake, or mattake, mushroom is expensive because of its rarity. While its historical prevalence meant it was nearly synonymous with autumn in Japan, the introduction of an insect that kills the trees under which the mushroom grows has caused a dramatic decrease in the number of matsutake mushrooms. A method for farming the matsutake has yet to be developed, which means the lack of trees from which to harvest these mushrooms naturally is a serious problem for the species.
The world’s most expensive mushroom can be purchased for around $1,000 per pound, though prices for specific mushrooms may reach up to $2,000 per pound. It is known more for its spiced, fruity aroma than its flavor and is a cherished gift in the Japanese corporate world

I don’t doubt that matsutake mushrooms are expensive in Japan. But I have never heard matsi’s referred to as Mattake.
The only reference I could find on the internet for Mattake was dated 1904 in the Exhibition of the Empire of Japan, Official Catalog, which was presented by the Imperial Japanese Commission to the Louisiana Purchase Exposition as a requirement in participating in the Exposition. I think that this reference to Mattake was a typo since “matsu-take” was printed elsewhere in the text. Matsutake are also known here in the U.S. as pine mushrooms – and by harvesters of this species as just matsi’s. In mushroom reference books the common name for those found in the U.S. is American Matsutake (Tricholoma magnivelare).
At one time, just a few years ago, harvesters, here in the U.S, were paid over $600 per pound by buyers, who then shipped them to Japanese markets. Now (2009 season) harvesters are getting anywhere from $10 to $20 USD per pound. I know this because I picked Matsutake mushrooms in 2009. The American matsutake market has dried as Japanese buyers shifted their focus to China which has, according to Japanese buyers, a higher quality Matsutake.
If I’m wrong about this, I will eat my Mattake’s.
